New Pricing Structure and Membership Criteria

After some delay caused by a detailed review of our options the Stables is about to open its Membership scheme once again.

We have grown substantially since the last membership exercise and so too have our costs. We now have a beautiful new indoor arena,(to which further improvements are shortly to be made), which has attracted new riders from all over the region. However, originally we were set up for disadvantaged riders from the surrounding wards. As a charity we need to protect this status. Alongside this it is important to generate an income that will ensure the future survival of Stepney Bank Stables for all. Therefore, although we recognise that any changes to eligibility may make it difficult for some people it is necessary for the future of SBS to introduce a new and improved Membership scheme.

Membership will fall into 2 categories:

Priority Member

Priority Members are people who meet our charitable objectives and can therefore benefit from a subsidized rate. There are 3 criteria under which you could be deemed eligible.

1.	You live in the Newcastle City Council boundaries in one of the top 15% deprived wards. Or,

2.	You have a Newcastle Leisure Plus Priority Card. Or,

3.	You are a child with The Looked After Service or within 2 years of leaving this service living in Newcastle City Council boundaries.

Please note that existing members who live outside the Newcastle City boundaries but; live in the top 15% deprived wards, claim one of the benefits that would entitle you to a Newcastle Priority Card t, or are a child with The Looked After Service or within 2 years of leaving this service, will still be entitled to a Priority Membership.
Standard Member
Standard Members will be entitled to ride at the Stables and enjoy all the other activities and services we provide. Your money will help to support our charity and the work that we do. You will also benefit from a reduced rate compared to our commercial charges.
Cost of Memebrship
The annual cost for both categories is:
£12 Adult
£6 Child
How to Renew your Membership

You will need to complete and return a Membership Form with your renewal fee. This will then be processed and a Membership Card issued. Please note that anyone who fails to do so by the 1 February 05 will lose their current rights and will be charged our commercial rate.
The new scheme becomes operational from 1 February 05.

Peak time is weekends and evenings after 4pm.

Please note that this scheme will be reviewed again in one year’s time. Once again I would emphasize that this change is necessary to meet both our charitable objectives and maintain the future viability of Stepney Bank Stables.
