Adopt a Pony
Do you love ponies? Do you want to help a children’s charity? Or do you know someone who would?
Adopting a pony is a great way of helping us look after the ponies at Stepney Bank Stables and enabling inner city children the opportunity to ride and be around horses.
For £20 a year you will receive:
- A framed photograph of your chosen pony
- A pony profile
- An adoption certificate
Ponies to choose from:
Gem: Gem is a 12:2hh Bay Welsh pony. She has been at Stepney Bank for 11 years which makes her the longest serving pony at the stables. She has a lovely quiet nature which makes her popular with beginners and disabled riders. Although dependable with novices she likes to show experienced riders that she knows all the tricks in the book!
Appleby: Appleby is a black miniature Shetland and at 37 inches high is the smallest pony at Stepney. He is very cute but don’t let those looks deceive you because he can be very naughty. He likes to run around the stables in circles when you try and tack him up, he’s so small it’s like trying to hold onto an eel!
Rosie: Rosie is a grey Shetland mare and is a great favourite at Stepney. Everyone who’s small enough wants to ride her because she’s such fun. However, like most Shetlands she has a wicked streak and likes to bite the knees of people who are trying to lead her.
Jasper Posh name Rotary Lad! Jasper is the biggest horse at Stepney standing at 17hh. Jasper has a huge appetite and is always eating! Riding Jasper is fantastic exercise as he makes you work hard but it is worth it in the end! Jasper can work really well if the rider is prepared to sweat a bit!
Blue A gorgeous Shetland cross Welsh pony. Blue’s nickname is the billy goat as he has a very hairy chin! Blue loves lots of fuss and is perfect for smaller riders to learn on. Blue got is name as (surprisingly enough!) he is a blue-roan.
Ebony A beautiful dark bay pony. Ebony is only 12.2hh but is perfect for beginners and more advanced riders. She excels at jumping and games and gives everyone who rides her loads of confidence.
Amber The perfect pony for riders who are lacking confidence as Amber really takes care of you. She is a 13hh chestnut mare and has worked in a riding school before so is an old hand. Amber gets quite stiff so needs lots of TLC to keep her mobile.
