Newbiggin Festival Brings In The Harvest

 02 October 2007

Children from a Newbiggin first school have celebrated Harvest Festival with a special service and food boxes for the vulnerable.

Children from Windsor First School in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea held their harvest festival at St Andrews Methodist Church on Friday 28 October. The autumnal celebrations saw pupils singing hymns and performing their own songs and poems.

Mrs Anne Carter, Headteacher at Windsor First School, said: “As well as the celebration event, children here have been bringing in food donations for a week, including lots of fresh vegetables from local allotments, so many thanks are due to the generous Windsor parents.”

Food boxes and hampers will be going out to local elderly people nominated by the children, the hospital, People’s Kitchen and local retirement homes.
