Teachers At Newbiggin School Top Class, Says Ofsted
19 March 2007
Teachers at a school in Wansbeck help youngsters make good progress, according to government inspectorate OfSTED.
Windsor First School, in Newbiggin by the Sea, Northumberland, has been praised in its recent OfSTED report for its good teaching. The inspectorate noted that despite low attainment levels when youngsters first come to the school, teachers help pupils do well at school through a stimulating curriculum.
Jim Wright, Executive Member for Children’s Services, said: “Windsor First School is making a difference to the quality of education received by youngsters in Wansbeck, and that is commendable. I’m happy to see OfSTED has recognised the school’s achievement.”
Windsor pupils themselves drew special attention, with inspectors remarking on the often exemplary behaviour of youngsters. The report also notes that children enjoy school, have positive attitudes and work hard.
Mrs Anne Carter, Headteacher of Windsor First School, said: “Children tell us they enjoy school, and, as OfSTED points out, pupils are remarkably well behaved. Along with the excellent teachers and staff at the school, this all contributes to the positive learning environment at Windsor First School which helps pupils achieve their very best.”
